Rebel

The Christmas story is actually a story of rebellion.  The birth of Jesus and the beginning of Christianity led to a rebellion against the Roman empire.  people began to claim Jesus as lord instead of Caesar and were willing to give their lives for this cause. 

Last night at Ikon 24t7 we talked about what it means to rebel as a Christian today.  this time of year we are bombarded with the message to bow down to the god of “more”.  As we try to rethink our Christmas this year i hope we all rebel a little bit against this materialistic, overspending, greedy, mindset that we seem to fall in to every year. All our stuff fades away anyway and we just end up wanting more. Only Christ can truly satisfy us! This Christmas be grateful,want less, spend less, worship more, rebel!   next week we will talk about what it means to really give.  Have a great week!

Worship

Are you looking to make you Christmas different this year?  for the next few weeks at 24t7 we are going to be talking about words that could change your Christmas. we kicked it off last night (pre-thanksgiving) with the word “worship”.  A lot of worshiping went on after Jesus was born.  In the Christmas accounts in Matthew and Luke we are told that the Angels, shepherds, The Wisemen, Simeon, and Anna all worshiped at the great news of Christ’s birth.  Why did they worship?  because this was the long awaited Messiah who had come to bring us back to God!    This is what we celebrate at Christmas.  This is why we need to worship!  do you want your Christmas to be different this year?  make an intentional effort to worship everyday this holiday season in song, prayer, and even just your daily activities. It will make a difference.

24t7 is happening the sunday after thanksgiving!  See you then for our next word!

Remember next weekend is the IDYG in Indy so there will be no 24t7 on Sunday night.  If you show up at 5:30 hungry and ready to rock you will be sorely disappointed.   I’m sure you could rake some leaves or something though
